Bartsch about a new success story
National Secretary Dietmar Bartsch spoke about another important event in the left of DIE LINKE at a press conference in Berlin in early May
"We had the '68 Congress' organised by the left youth organisation Solid and the students’ association DIE LINKE.SDS. That was not reminiscent alone of the generation of 68 (youth rebellion in Western Europe – the edit.) but also the attempt to deal with a tradition – and I like stressing this on this day, Karl Marx' birthday – our student's association sees its roots in. More than 1,600 participants came to Berlin and discussed vividly for three days, also basic issues that comrade Marx had addressed. The overall atmosphere was optimistic. The aim was to tap the experience of the 68 generation for the protests today. We are very confident that we are building a powerful organisation for the students. It is one of the success stories of DIE LINKE that our students’ association is now active at more than 60 universities and the number of members is rising."
