Combat racism!
On the occasion of the International Day against Racism members of the executive board of the party DIE LINKE, Ali Al Dailami and Katina Schubert, declare:
Each year the world celebrates the anniversary of the Sharpeville Massacre of 1960, when at the time of the Apartheid regime in South Africa, 69 peaceful demonstrators were shot by the police because they were protesting against racist laws.
Even in Germany racism is commonplace, coming from the center of society, with the so-called elites giving the clue. At the latest since the racially motivated murders by the fascist terror gang NSU – killing and marauding for more than a decade – the consequences of a poisoned climate in society became clear. Racism can be fatal!
We need a refugee and migration policy based on human rights. Anyone who denies fundamental rights to people, does not want their integration but their exclusion from society; thus, the affected individuals as well as the society are made aware that they are neither a part of it nor that they are treated as equal. The prevailing policy promotes racism by justifying inequality.
DIE LINKE calls for a consistent fight against and social condemnation of racism. We call for a ban on all racist and fascist parties and organizations and an action plan against racism, which includes a comprehensive anti-racist norm adjustment.
DIE LINKE will take part in actions to mark the International Day against Racism and start an own action by standing in front of its headquarters at “the eleventh hour” (five to twelve).
