Government Failure Fosters Incendiaries

“The federal government should at first look who’s talking while warning of rightwing extremist refugee opponents and their rightwing populist stooges. Those verbal stooges are not only part of AfD (rightwing populists) or NPD (nationalistics) but also of CDU/CSU (Christian conservatives). Instead of babbling about unconstitutional upper limits for admitting refugees, calling for the Bavarian border control, and gutting the asylum law, CDU/CSU and SPD (Social Democrats) finally need to empower the Lands and municipalities for taking up their integration tasks. Mainly the government failure on federal level fosters the verbal and actual perpetrators against refugees” declares Jan Korte, vice chair of DIE LINKE parliamentary group, thus contributing to the debate about growing numbers of rightwing extremist assaults on refugees, their shelters, and supporters. Korte further:

“It is, of course, right for ministers Steinmeier, Schäuble, and Maas to warningly raise their voices. The growing number of violent acts and assaults on refugees, their shelters, and supporters is a scandal for society, a shame for Germany. It gets even bigger since authorities neither provide protection nor solve crimes quickly and comprehensively. Against the completely disinhibited racism and daily life terror not only an uprising of the decent is needed but a decent riot in everyday life.

Yet, more than mere warnings can and has to be expected by ministers of the federal government. A successful integration of refugees is the best and sustainable answer for rightwing extremists and racists. The country needs a great social investment offensive benefitting everyone. We need more teachers, more nursery school teachers, more support for refugee helpers, better schools, more nurseries, affordable living space and the effective combatting of the reasons of migration instead of arms exports and participation in wars. As long as the federal government not even talks about it, let alone seriously tackles the task, all ministerial warnings fizzle out.”
