Left Success in Iowa

“The result of Bernie Sanders (2nd after Clinton with 49.59 to 49.84 per cent for the Democratic Party) in the caucuses in Iowa is a great success for the left”, comments Stefan Liebich, spokesperson for DIE LINKE parliamentary group in the foreign committee and vice chair of the parliamentary group for the U.S. of the Bundestag, on the outcome of the caucus of the Democratic Party in Iowa. “Not many expected it to become such a head-to-head race – the final winner has yet to be announced.” Liebich further:

“There is no reason to be happy about Ted Cruz winning over Donald Trump in the caucus of the Republicans. The fundamentally religious Cruz is – like Trump – a highly bad choice. He wants to reverse the nuclear agreement with Iran and thus pursues high-risk politics. DIE LINKE also is sure: it is not indifferent who will become President of the U.S. I further root for Bernie Sanders, who also voted against both Iraq wars.”
