Let the Refugee Trains Pass!

Hundreds of refugees are on their way from Budapest to Austria and Germany by train. Not to hinder those trains to pass the borders is the request of Katina Schubert, member of the executive board of DIE LINKE. She further declares:

The images are similar: more than 25 years ago refugees left the GDR via Hungary and Austria to go to Germany. Now there are mostly Syrian civil war refugees at the train stations of the Hungarian capital trying to get hold of a place in a train to Austria or Germany. Everybody knows that those refugees flee from war, misery, and expulsion.

We ask the Austrian and German governments: Open the borders, let the trains pass, and leave the refugees a chance for a fair procedure without smuggling or risk for life and limb! It is important that there is a coordinated timetable and sufficient information, so that the responsible authorities in Austria and Germany have a chance to care for good accommodation and provision for the refugees. Which, by the way, is their duty and obligation.
