Merkels Blackmailing Costs Further Billions

“Chancellor Merkel will only release the next transaction to Athens when the new left government will have raised the white flag on the Akropolis and broke its central election promises. Even a third, so called aid package will lead to further social misery in Greece and an even higher burden for tax payers in Germany and other creditor countries, if the policy of recent years continues”, comments Sahra Wagenknecht the meeting of the Euro finance ministers in Brussels. The first vice chair of DIE LINKE parliamentary group further:

“The federal government by continuously blackmailing Greece irresponsibly accepts multi-billion euro losses for the German and European tax payer. Instead of enforcing a continuation of the troika policy debt sustainabiliy for an as high as possible remainder of the debt can only be achieved by a debt cut as well as a retraction of the cutting and privatisation policy.

DIE LINKE already in 2010 demanded a debt cut. Instead, Merkel saved the banks, transferred the risk to the European tax payer, and excacerbated the Greek situation by the austerity dictate.”
