Mourning for Troy Davis

Concerning the execution of Troy Davis in the US state of Georgia the deputy chairwoman of DIE LINKE, Katja Kipping, declares:

Troy Davis is dead. He was executed, although extensive doubts existed, if he actually had committed the crime he was charged with. His execution was injustice, every execution is injustice. We mourn for Troy Davis. Our thoughts are with his family and his friends. The German federal government must not keep silent about this act of barbarism in front of the eyes of the world public. The federal foreign minister should take the death of Troy Davis as a reason for protest, as did his French colleague. The application of human rights has to be demanded even when they are violated by a world power. The United Nations have banned death penalty. We express solidarity with everybody, who fights against death penalty worldwide.
