Resignation of Gesine Lötzsch

At the 10th of April 2012 Party Chair Gesine Lötzsch announced her resignation. After mature consideration she decided to recede from her office as Party Chair of the Party DIE LINKE due to her husband’s serious health condition. Her domestic situation makes frequent absences from her hometown Berlin - since due to her office she had to be present at numerous events all over the country - impossible. She will now focus on her political office as a member of the German Bundestag. The Party Executive Board declares:

We regretfully notice the resignation of Gesine Lötzsch as Party Co-Chair and have the greatest respect for her decision. We thank Gesine Lötzsch for her work as Party Chair and wish  strength, confidence, and health for her and her family and success for her further political work.

Klaus Ernst will be leading the Party as the only Party Chair until the Party Congress in Göttingen. We concentrate all our efforts on the upcoming electoral campaigns. All questions concerning leadership personnel will be considered only after federal state elections in Schleswig-Holstein and North Rhine-Westphalia and will be decided on at the Party Congress at the beginning of June.
