Withdrawal instead of Appeals for Standing the Gaff!
NATO general secretary Anders Rasmussen now conceded that the NATO has misjudged the situation in Afghanistan from the beginning. Unfortunately he concludes from that to go on like before, just doing more of everything, criticizes Christina Buchholz, member of the Executive Board of the Party DIE LINKE:
Rasmussen noticed the obvious: The expectation of the NATO, that the Afghanis would acclaim the western occupation and the puppet regime that was installed by the West, was fail.
In the tenth year of the occupation Kabul still has no sanitation- having grown from 500,000 to five million people by the refugees of war. The agriculture is in a sorry state due to highly subsidized European and American agri-imports. The policy of privatisation which was imposed by the NATO has destroyed all social security systems. Poverty and unemployment prepare the ground for corruption and drug economics.
But instead of putting into question the military logic, Rasmussen pins his hopes on a further military escalation, along the lines of 'Grit your teeth and get to it'! Like Rasmussen concedes himself, "there will be more victims". Among Afghanis and NATO soldiers. But this will not solve the problems of the Afghanis- for doing so a troop withdrawal would be the necessary and overdue precondition.
